Battle of Bosworth 1 - Finished

Richard III falls in battle signaling farewell to the Plantagenet Dynasty in Britain. I  think this one is done, barring any feedback to the contrary from the client. I enjoyed the challenge of creating a battle scene and overall am pretty pleased with the result. Despite the vibrant primary colors in the heraldry, I think that the neutrals carry the show which is what I wanted. What do you Think?

Hello Greg
It's a great picture! I would I be happy with it to. I love the movement and the weight of the armors, and the colors work very well indeed.

I kind of love that the horse is laughing at him as he falls. Beautiful work!

I tried not to make him too stylized, but there is a touch of humor in the expression!

overall a great piece. they look a little clean for warriors, but i did hear the word "stylized." i'd be happy with it.

Thanks Rudyard. I suppose I should have "dirtied" them up a bit, but sometimes I'm just happy to meet the deadline with something that I think works. If this were for a picture book or an ad, I probably would have spent more time. Such is illustration...
